ORDERING:
Our catalogue is generally updated on a regular basis. The 'search' facility will show all items currently available on the last update and we aim to keep every title in stock, but some may have since gone out of stock, be on order or subsequently have order returned as out of print. We will be unable then to supply that title, the order is accepted on that basis.
SECURITY OF ON-LINE ORDERING:
We use a secure server to receive your credit/debit card details over an encrypted connection. Your credit/debit card authorisation will be processed through BOB PEARMAN BOOKS.
DISPLAY OF PRICES:
The price of each item is displayed in the shopping cart and against search results. This price is exclusive of post and packing. Once an item is placed in your shopping basket the postage and packing charges will be viewable and if extra items are added the cart will refresh these prices.
POST & PACKING:
Our charges are clearly shown below. The shopping cart will automatically calculate these charges based on your purchase and your postal region. You will be able to view these charges at all stages of the shopping transaction and before going to the secure server to make payment.
UK/BFPO POSTAGE & PACKING CHARGES
Orders up to value of £6 charged at £2.50 per order
Orders from £6 in value up to £40 in value charged at £3.00 per order
Orders over £40 are posted free
EUROPE AIRMAIL - Charged at 30 percent of the total order
REST OF THE WORLD
AIRMAIL - Charged at 80 percent of the total order
SURFACE MAIL - Charged at 40 percent of the total order
POSTAGE TIMES:
UK: Orders sent by Royal Mail take approx 3 working days.
Orders sent by Parcelforce take up to 10 working days
Western Europe: usually 4 working days by airmail.
Outside of Western Europe: Two weeks on average by airmail.
(The Post Office estimates for three days to Eastern Europe and four days to the rest of the world, although customs can add to this time.
SURFACE MAIL depends on country of destination and can take considerably longer than airmail.
IMPORT DUTY:
Customers placing orders outside the EU may have to pay import duty. We word our Customs Declarations to show that goods are for personal use and not for trade, in order to reduce any payments that local Customs may charge.
FAULTY GOODS:
All our items are checked and packed with suitable packaging so there should normally be no problems. However if the goods supplied to you are 'not suitable for the use that they were intended for' we will accept returns for reimbursment. This complies with the UK Sale of Goods Act. This does not affect your statutory rights as a consumer.
ORDER CANCELLATION / REFUND POLICY:
The Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations requires traders, unless the law permits otherwise, to give the consumer the right to cancel their order within 14 working days without giving a reason. In the case of goods received the 14 working days must start from the day after the day the customer receives the goods.
BOB PEARMAN BOOKS will comply with the above regulations.
You must ensure that you take reasonable care of goods and return them to us in the condition that they were sent to you.

In the event that the goods have already been despatched, or have been received by you, and we receive notice of cancellation we will refund your original purchasing costs but not the cost you incur in returning the cancelled goods to us.
PAYMENT:
ON-LINE: Visa and Mastercard credit cards accepted. Postage will be accounted for automatically.
OFF-LINE: Cash: only by special delivery/registered mail (at your own risk.) Cheques: Only cheques drawn on a UK bank are acceptable. All cheques should be made payable to: 'BOB PEARMAN BOOKS
International Money Order: Make payable to 'BOB PEARMAN BOOKS
Postal Orders: All Postal Orders should be uncrossed and made payable to BOB PEARMAN BOOKS.
Credit Cards: Please supply:
a) Card holders name & address
b) Card number
c) Expiry date
Your card will be debited to BOB PEARMAN BOOKS - (no third parties are used for card transactions), and all card processing is made off-line. This stops you being charged for out of stock items, and is more secure.
You can also make direct bank transfer payments if you prefer. Our bank details are available upon request. If you are sending cash through the post, please send it in a Registered Letter.
PAYPAL: Payments in sterling only, as we do not process the financial transaction, you may be charged for an item that is out of stock
All payments are in Pounds Sterling (GBP).
YOUR PERSONAL DETAILS/DATA PROTECTION ACT
Your details will not be given to any third parties, we believe that we comply with both the existing UK Data Protection Act and the provisions of the EU GDPR until the revised UK DPA comes into force. We are always happy to discuss our approach in person over the telephone if there are any concerns.
COMPLAINTS:
We will deal with any complaints that you have fairly, effectively and quickly (within 5 working days). Any complaints will be dealt with in strictest confidence. If you make any complaints, we ask that you inform us as to how our procedures can be improved, and give as much detail as you can, in order that we can help you to resolve any problems. Just contact us using the contact details below.
During the period of any dispute, we promise to keep you appraised of all developments. In the event that we are unable to resolve any dispute speedily because of the late arrival of information from third parties, we will re-imburse you before resolution of the dispute so that you are not 'out of pocket'.

We are committed to protecting your privacy. We will only use the information that we collect about you lawfully (in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998) and according to the Which? Web Trader Code of Conduct. We collect information about you for 2 reasons: firstly, to process your order and secondly, to provide you with the best possible service. We will not e-mail you in the future unless you have given us your consent.
We will not pass your e-mail address to anyone else.

We will never collect sensitive information about you without your explicit consent. The information we hold will be accurate and up to date. You can check the information that we hold about you by emailing us. If you find any inaccuracies we will delete or correct it promptly.

Our internal security policy means that your personal data is kept in a purpose-built database off-line, and is only accessible to Pearman Books, who are responsible for all security on this site and also for maintaining accurate data.
If we intend to transfer your information outside the EEA (European Economic Area) we will always obtain your consent first. We may use technology to track the general patterns of behaviour of visitors to our site. The information collected in this way will not be used to identify you other than by the IP address of the computer used to browse this site. We make every effort to comply with continuously evolving UK and International data privacy legislation and standards and are happy to discuss specific queries over the phone.
